Default Improvement for henchies idea

Simple, yet it would ease up everyone's life giving the henchies the 'stay' and 'follow' command. Just like the ghostly hero, you talk to him, he stays put, talk to him again and he follows. It's too much a pain having mhenlo having a warm bath in the lava pool (Ring of Fire), or having the wars go with their gung ho tactics at whatever you target. I'm not saying to improve their skills or how they fight, just this single instruction.

As I said, it's simple, very possibe as it already exists on various NPCs and VERY useful to everyone.

Quite a good idea. Then again, since many people (assassins) took to full henchmen parties, talking to 7 npcs in a row might be tedious.

Why not a set of /henchstay and /henchfollow commands ; I don't think we need to fine tune which stays and which follows anyway. For mixed human/hench parties, commands could be available to either team leader only, or the whole team ; the latter seems good enough to me.

No no, what I meant was that talking to one would make all hench stay/move. Talking to 7 is really too much.

Very good idea...this would make the game much easier to beet so it would be a fantastic idea! LOL JUST KIDDIN

Henchmen are as good as the player controlling them so when I use henchamen they are more effective then most players (Except for the healers and the warrior humans do not tank just liek teh henchies) so if you can instruct them to stop/follow no good players would use humans...they would all use henchies since most players are worste than a henchie

^needs to lose the ego

I want each henchmen to act as an individual ghostly hero. Please. I don't want every henchmen staying or every henchman following. This would also help trappers. If I wanted just the healer to follow me, I'll talk to her. But then, I don't want her wandering into the middle of the battle (it happens -.-) so I talk to her, she stays just ont he edge of my aggro and heals me. Maybe the monsters go for her. It's my fault she died, I'll take the responsibility.

How to deal with the current programming so that you CAN talk to them. Just make it so that /stay Sister Tai[Healer Henchman] makes her stay. Maybe even /all henchmen follow would control them all. /follow should not pull them to you if they are off-radar.

Are you sure you're playing Guild Wars?

I didn't imagine someone would be totally against this. Some tweaking perhaps, but... well, that's what make the real life beautiful I suppose.

prism... dont pay much attention to !!! aa !!!!, make a search for his threads and you know what i mean...

yes, stay and follow would be great ideas, as at the eternal grove mission, i could order the henchies to stay near one of the groups to protect them while i take down the turtles.

Don't worry AW Lore, I already had the misfortune to see some of !!! aa !!!!'s threads. Got nothing personal against him of course but he does seem to come up with a lot of overexcited ideas.

As to the topic, I think that even if it could be a bit tedious, talking to each of the henchies would be best although it would be a real help even if you could make them stay put all together. Mobs have some more decent AI. At least they don't stay put in the lava until they die.

this would be helpful among other much needed updates to hechmen ai.

I have played with henchmen forever and lately i have seen many bugs cropping up in henchemen behaviour.
Most often i find that henchies have no idea what im doing when i start moving. If im strafing in battle all the henchies stop attacking till either i call or stop moving, also they will pause about every 3 secs when i run crosscountry.

This idea would defiantly help allay these 2 problems and hopefully make henchemen more managble and user friendly.

True but this isn't a game of how to interact with dumb AI I think. Some places are managable but when I tried the RoF mission, I just couldn't keep the henchies out of the lava AND not aggroing the mobs. In other words, I couldn't recover a bit from the lava pool cos mobs saw me and came to say hi.
